A Coworker Read Haley Furst One Bible Verse and Everything She Built Cracked

Sep 12, 2026

HHS just accused hospitals of turning confused teenagers into a fifty million dollar industry.

Haley Furst lived inside that pipeline for five years before something stopped her cold.

One coworker read her a single Bible verse and her entire identity started to crack.

What the Schools Did Before the Doctors Got Involved

Furst didn't wake up one day confused about who she was.

She grew up in a Christian home in Alberta, attended private Christian school, and by her own account never questioned her gender.

Then she walked into a Canadian public high school.

Gay Straight Alliance clubs were running across the province, and Furst says sexual identity came up constantly in class, including in direct conversations between teachers and underage students.

Alberta's own NDP government passed Bill 24 in 2017, a law that barred schools from telling parents if their child joined a GSA.

That's the policy environment Furst was raised in – one where politicians decided parents were the last people who needed to know what was happening to their kids.

She contrasts it with her private Christian school, where those same topics, when they came up at all, were handled by families and treated as age-appropriate.

Within a few years of public school, she was identifying as a transgender man.

She spent five or six years living as a male, took male hormones, and eventually had a surgery she describes as similar to a hysterectomy, removing her uterus and one ovary.

Furst now views that outcome as manipulation dressed up as compassion.

"You can very much see how that's actually damaging," she said.

The Medical Industry That Profited From Girls Like Haley

Furst's story is not unique.

The Trump administration's Department of Health and Human Services released a 64-page report in August 2026 – titled Wolves in White Coats: How Doctors and Hospitals Pushed and Profited from the Fraud of "Gender Medicine" – examining how hospitals billed for treating gender-confused minors.

The numbers are staggering.

HHS identified approximately $50 million in insurance claims for puberty blockers billed under an unspecified endocrine disorder code between 2015 and 2025.

Another $11 million in claims for patients aged 13 to 17 were billed under a precocious puberty diagnosis code that didn't fit their age group.

Over 225 hospitals and health systems nationwide built out pediatric gender programs during that same window.

HHS has referred the identified providers to federal investigators to determine whether the billing practices broke the law.

Texas Children's Hospital already settled a related fraud case with the Texas attorney general for $10 million in May 2026.

These weren't healers following their conscience.

They built a business model out of confused teenagers.

What Brought Haley Back

A coworker read her Romans 8:38.

That's it.

No confrontation, no intervention, no program – just a colleague sharing a few verses about the love of God.

Furst went home that night, sat alone in her bedroom, and prayed – convinced, she says, that Jesus probably wouldn't want her.

He did.

She describes what followed not as a single moment but a gradual return, one that let her step back into life as the woman she was born to be.

Furst now says the volume of sexual-identity conversation children are exposed to today has no precedent, and that it starts younger than it ever used to.

She's living proof that what got built inside her school wasn't a support system – it was a pipeline into medical transition.

A young woman entered it whole and came out the other side missing organs she will never get back.

Trump Is Cutting Off the Money, But the Classroom Fight Remains

The Trump administration is dismantling the federal infrastructure that enabled this industry.

CMS has finalized a rule stripping essential-health-benefit status from gender transition procedures and proposed further limits on Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIP funding for them.

The Wolves in White Coats report has sent dozens of providers to the Justice Department.

But the schools are still running.

The GSA clubs are still meeting.

The teachers who think it's their job to discuss sexual identity with your 13-year-old are still employed.

Furst is asking parents the only question that matters: how do you keep your child innocent in a world that insists the safest thing is to expose them to all of this as young as possible?

The answer isn't a policy.

It's a parent who shows up – who knows what their kid is being told, who asks what clubs are meeting at school, and who doesn't outsource those conversations to adults with an agenda.

Washington built the funding pipeline.

Trump is shutting it down.

But the protection of the next Haley Furst starts at home – before she ever walks through those school doors.
