Now one of the contenders is trying to make a splash on the national stage.

Kentucky’s Democrat Governor swings and misses at J.D. Vance

The auditions are beginning to become Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate.

She’s widely expected to pick a moderate presenting white male to balance the ticket.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear (D) is begging to get the job.

He’s termed limited as Governor and his political career in Kentucky is at a dead end in the increasingly Republican state.

Beshear appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe – a favorite of the Democrat elites like President Joe Biden – to show off his attack dog skills.

He was asked if he would consider being Harris’ running mate.

Beshear gave the standard “he would consider it” answer, but he confirmed his interest when pivoted to attacking former President Donald Trump’s running mate, U.S. Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH).

“And I want the American people to know what a Kentuckian is and what they look like,” Beshear said. “Because let me just tell you that J.D. Vance ain’t from here.”

Saying someone “ain’t from here” in Appalachia is a serious insult.

“The nerve that he has to call the people of Kentucky, of eastern Kentucky, lazy, Listen, these are the hard-working coal miners that powered the industrial revolution, that created the strongest middle class the world has ever seen,” Beshear said.

“We should be thanking them, not calling them lazy,” Beshear added. “So today was an opportunity to both support the vice president, but also to stand up for my people. Nobody calls us names, especially those that have worked hard for the betterment of this country.”

Vance grew up in Middletown, Ohio but his family is from Jackson, Kentucky and he spent considerable time there. 

He wrote a best-selling memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, about his tough childhood in Ohio and eastern Kentucky.

J.D. Vance fires back at Kentucky’s Governor  

Vance came out swinging after Beshear attacked him on Morning Joe.

“Eastern Kentucky will always have a special place in my heart,” Vance said. “It’s very weird to have a guy whose first job was at his dad’s law firm and inherited the governorship from his father to criticize my origin story. Yes, nobody gave me the governorship and nobody gave me a job because of who my father was. I’m proud of that.”

Andy Beshear comes from a political dynasty in Kentucky.

His dad, Steve Beshear, served two terms as Kentucky’s Governor from 2007-2015. 

The young Beshear worked at a law firm that his dad was a partner in before becoming a career politician.

He appeared on CNN that same night to continue attacking Vance as not being someone from Kentucky – which Vance never claimed he was.

“I mean, the problem with J.D. Vance is, he has no conviction, but I guess his running mate has 34,” Beshear said in a forced joke that didn’t land.

J.D. Vance is going to have Democrats and their media allies taking constant swipes at him because he’s Trump’s running mate.
