Barbra Streisand just ripped off the taxpayers to keep her mansion looking pretty

Jan 19, 2024

Mega-rich Hollywood elites love to tell you how to live and demand more of your money for their causes.

Barbara Streisand has long supported a host of liberal causes while hoarding her money to live in her insulated luxury mansion.

But now Barbra Streisand just got caught allegedly ripping off taxpayers using your money to feather her luxury nest.

It’s not a secret that Grammy Award-winning singer and actress Barbra Streisand is not a fan of former President Donald Trump and his supporters.

A not-so-funny girl anymore

Streisand, the award-winning singer and actress in such films as Funny Girl, What’s Up Doc, and A Star is Born, has been a vocal opponent of Donald Trump.

For years, she has let it be known of her intense distaste for the former president and has even gone so far as to threaten to leave the country if Trump were to win the 2016 election.

Unfortunately for Americans, this is a threat she has yet to carry out.

Some of Streisand’s main complaints about Trump were what she considered his lavish spending, whether on the border wall or the cost of the security detail for his family when they weren’t living in the White House.

Streisand loudly complained these expenses were costing the U.S. taxpayers.

For instance, in 2017, Streisand tweeted, “If Trump continues to house family in NYC & vacation at this rate, it will cost taxpayers $526 mill. Arts budget is only 1/4 this cost.”

But as it turns out, Streisand, a radical leftist, had not suddenly become a fiscal hawk.

For the leftist Streisand, it was more about policy than spending.

She is a well-known supporter of Biden’s open borders and tweeted out in 2017, “@realDonaldTrump wants to build $22B wall on U.S.’s dime, even as illegal immigration has been declining for years.”

That didn’t age well.

Paying her help with U.S. tax dollars

With all her seeming concern for the proper use of taxpayer money, Streisand, who is worth $430 million according to Forbes, could manage to pay her own gardener and personal assistant.

But it turns out that during the COVID pandemic, Streisand instead paid them by taking taxpayer money.

Streisand once again proves that multi-millionaire Hollywood elites believe the rules they want to impose on other Americans don’t apply to them.

According to the New York Post, Streisand’s film production company, Barwood Films Ltd., received more than $200,000 in Paycheck Protection Program loans during COVID.

These were loans she received that were then forgiven by the federal government, according to an investigation.

While most Americans couldn’t even get the loans, let alone have them forgiven, the Hollywood multi-millionaire class was awash in taxpayer dollars.

The loans received by Streisand’s company, $103,662 in 2020 and $103,127 in 2021, were loans intended to help small businesses retain employees during the COVID pandemic, not go to multi-millionaires to pay their gardeners.

The Paycheck Protection Program established specific requirements in order for loans to be forgiven.

Companies who received the loans had to use at least 60 percent of the funds to retain staff at existing compensation levels.

The remaining 40 percent could cover other operating expenses like utilities, critical supplies, safety items, or rent.

Skirting the rules and getting away with it

Barwood Films complied by using over half of the PPP loans for payroll costs without wage cuts.

As a result of their compliance, the Small Business Administration waived both the outstanding loan balances and all the accrued interest.

But what is shocking is the jobs they paid for with taxpayer dollars.

Barwood Films said the funds would protect six jobs, including an “executive support” employee and a groundskeeper for Streisand’s $20 million Malibu, California, estate.

Apparently, Streisand could not have survived the pandemic without someone bringing her drinks on demand or dealing with an imperfectly manicured lawn.

And even while she was skimming taxpayer dollars, Streisand was still attacking then-President Donald Trump.
