Border Czar Tom Homan Tells New Migrant Caravan It Has Zero Chance of Entering America

Oct 1, 2026

In April 2024, Border Patrol waved 68,000 illegal crossers straight into American towns in a single month.

Now a new caravan of hundreds is marching toward that same border.

Markwayne Mullin just told them exactly what's waiting for them this time.

16 Straight Months of Zero Releases Is About to Face Its Biggest Test

A caravan calling itself "Faith and Hope" left San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on September 20.

It has grown to roughly 600 people moving through southern Mexico right now.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin isn't pretending to be diplomatic about it.

"The caravan has zero chance of coming into our country," Mullin said.

That's not a hope. That's a promise backed by sixteen straight months of receipts.

Border czar Tom Homan backed him up with the same blunt energy.

Homan put it bluntly: "They'll be immediately turned around, or they'll be arrested and prosecuted and deported."

He added that President Trump promised zero releases, and he intends to keep that promise exactly as written.

Mullin says Mexico is already working to disperse the caravan before it ever reaches Texas or Arizona.

He's also signaled DHS could pull in extra personnel and Coast Guard support if the caravan doesn't break apart on its own.

The 2018 Migrant Caravan Playbook Is Repeating Itself

Back in October 2018, a caravan of migrants also set out from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, bound for the U.S. border.

That caravan swelled past 7,000 people at its peak, numbers big enough to dominate headlines for weeks.

Mexican authorities spent the following weeks busing migrants to shelters, processing asylum claims, and fragmenting the group well before it could reach the border as one mass.

Mexico did the dispersing then. Mexico is doing the dispersing now.

Every major caravan since 2018 has followed the same arc: big numbers, big headlines, and Mexican intervention that breaks the group apart long before it becomes the border crisis organizers wanted.

The current caravan is already far smaller than the one that dominated headlines eight years ago.

Catch and Release Is Officially Dead

Biden spent four years training migrants to expect the opposite outcome.

For four years, reaching U.S. soil meant a bus ticket, a court date nobody enforced, and a new address in whatever city would take you.

Catch and release didn't just fail at the border. It exported the border's chaos straight into school districts and apartment complexes a thousand miles away.

That system is gone, and the numbers back it up.

August apprehensions along the southwest border came in 94 percent below what Border Patrol averaged monthly under Biden, DHS said.

Zero parole releases. Sixteen months running. Compare that to the 10,186 people Border Patrol released into the country in August 2024 alone under Biden.

If Mullin and Homan are right, "Faith and Hope" ends up exactly like every caravan since 2018: broken apart in Mexico, nowhere near the country these migrants hoped to reach.

Democrats spent that same stretch calling enforcement cruel while quietly releasing hundreds of thousands of people with no plan to track them.

Trump's team is betting that saying no and meaning it is cheaper, safer, and a lot more honest than the alternative.

Watch how small "Faith and Hope" gets in the next two weeks, and you'll have your answer.
