DHS Just Exposed Greg Casar After He Called ICE Officers Liars With Masks

Rep. Greg Casar called ICE agents "liars with masks" before investigators answered a single question.

The Department of Homeland Security decided his accusation deserved a direct answer.

What DHS published about Casar's own claims is now spreading through Washington.

Casar Attacked ICE Within Hours of the Austin Shooting

An ICE officer shot Wilber Rafael Garces Perez during a targeted vehicle stop in North Austin on Sunday.

DHS says Garces Perez is a Venezuelan national who entered the country illegally under Joe Biden.

He had a final order of removal from a federal immigration judge.

Casar didn't wait for a single fact before demanding the agency leave Austin entirely.

Rep. Joaquin Castro claimed the shooting left Garces Perez unable to move his left arm, with a bullet still lodged near his spine.

More than 100 House Democrats signed a letter within 48 hours demanding his release.

Austin Mayor Kirk Watson said he didn't trust federal investigators to run their own probe.

A retired Austin police official said Watson's response only raised tensions in the city before anyone had the full story.

DHS Fires Back With Receipts on Garces Perez's Record

DHS didn't back down.

The agency said Garces Perez is receiving round-the-clock medical care, including pain medication.

It said the claim that ICE refused to remove his bullet was false.

DHS also disputed his lawyer's claim that he entered the country legally with a work permit.

He had no valid work permit, no protective status, and a standing removal order, the agency said.

Then DHS turned the accusation back on the politicians who made it, saying "sanctuary politicians and the media wasted no time in spreading lies."

Former acting ICE Director Jonathan Fahey went further in an interview with Fox News Digital.

He said Democrats build these incidents up on purpose to pressure ICE into backing off enforcement.

Fahey said the party's real goal is an open border and mass amnesty, dressed up as outrage over one case.

Democrats Have Picked Their Outrage Before

This isn't the first time Democrats have flipped their view on lethal force depending on who's holding the badge.

Some Democrats defended a Capitol officer's fatal shooting of Ashli Babbitt on January 6.

Those same voices later called federal agents murderers over ICE shootings in Minneapolis and Portland.

Some members of Congress have compared ICE agents to "the Gestapo" while the agency faces a documented rise in attacks on its own officers.

DHS says its agents have been targeted with thrown rocks, firebombs, and worse in recent months.

Brandon Gill, R-Texas, said Democrats treat American crime victims as an afterthought.

He said "the left will read this and feel absolutely nothing" when Americans are victimized by illegal immigrants.

Gill's point lands because the pattern keeps repeating.

Houston Mayor John Whitmire faced a comparable shooting in July and didn't rush to blame ICE the way Watson did.

Sanctuary jurisdictions from New York to Chicago have spent this year blocking ICE from local jails and city property.

Sanctuary Politicians Built This Collision Themselves

Here's what fires me up about this one.

Casar went straight to "liars with masks" because the narrative mattered more than the truth, and DHS called his bluff in writing.

Sanctuary politicians created this collision months ago when they decided cooperation with ICE was optional.

Every time a city blocks a jailhouse transfer, agents get pushed into a street stop or a car chase instead of a controlled hallway.

That's exactly the kind of stop that put Garces Perez in front of an ICE agent's gun on Sunday.

Democrats built the conditions for confrontation, then blamed the officers for the confrontation happening.

Garces Perez has a bullet in his back and a court date on September 30.

Casar has a headline he can't take back.
