Twenty-five years ago, 19 terrorists entered America through a broken system and killed nearly 3,000 people.
This week DHS revealed the government gave one alleged terrorist something even bigger than a visa.
It handed him DACA status and then he allegedly planned to kill Americans steps from the White House.
The DACA Recipient Behind the UFC Freedom 250 White House Plot
His name is Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez.
He blew off his visa in 2001, the same year the towers came down, and just stayed.
The system had thirteen years to catch him. Instead, in 2014, it rewarded him – Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
DACA was sold to America as amnesty for innocent kids. Alvarez used it as a shield.
For over a decade he sat inside that shield, protected and unremoved.
Then this June, DHS says, federal agents grabbed him as the suspected ringleader of a mass casualty plot targeting UFC Freedom 250 – at the White House.
Not a rally. Not a protest. A live UFC crowd, packed shoulder to shoulder, footsteps from the Oval Office.
ICE lodged a detainer. The case is working through the courts now.
Sit with that sequence for a second, because Democrats desperately don't want you to.
ICE Terrorist Arrests Hit 2,150 Since Trump Took Office
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin didn't hide from this story. He put a number on it and dared anyone to argue.
Since President Trump took office in January 2025, ICE has arrested more than 2,150 known or suspected terrorists.
Another 2,015 of them are already gone – deported, off American soil, no longer somebody's problem to manage.
Mullin called it the department's commitment to "eternal vigilance." Alvarez is the reason that phrase isn't a slogan.
Look who else was sitting in that same case file.
Felipe Linares De Oliveira Dell Aquilla is Brazilian. DHS says he used to run two designated terrorist organizations. Agents chased him down by car, then on foot, through North Carolina.
They pulled a handgun, cash, and a stack of electronic devices off him. He was allegedly holding his own wife hostage while he planned his escape to Mexico.
Four members of Tren de Aragua pleaded guilty in May to gunning down two people in a 2024 Bronx shooting. All four walked across the border illegally between 2022 and 2023 – on Joe Biden's watch, not Trump's.
Not one of these men was caught because the system worked. Every one of them was caught because ICE refused to stop looking.
Democrats Renew Push to Abolish ICE After 9/11 Anniversary
While DHS was releasing these numbers, Democrats were busy trying to gut the agency that produced them.
A Minnesota Democrat running for governor this year didn't call for abolition. She called for a "complete overhaul" of the agency. That's the restrained position in her party now.
That instinct isn't new, and it isn't subtle. Back in 2018, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told a crowd to occupy every ICE office in the country – like the men in that case file were the ones who needed to be more afraid.
Tom Homan has said it plainly for years – Democrats would rather kill a law enforcement agency than fix the laws it's enforcing. Eight years later, he's still right, and they've only doubled down.
Polling now shows a majority of Democrats and roughly half of independents want ICE abolished outright. Read that next to the case file. A DACA recipient allegedly plotting mass murder near the White House, a suspected foreign terror commander running from agents with a gun and his own wife held hostage, four cartel gunmen who walked in under Biden and shot two people dead in the Bronx – and the response from half the country's independents and most of its Democrats is to fire the people who caught them.
The 9/11 Commission spent years warning that visa overstays were the crack terrorists slip through. Alvarez didn't slip through a crack. He was handed a legal shield and given over a decade to plan.
Twenty-five years after 9/11, the threat didn't sneak in from outside the system. DHS says it came from a man the government had already decided to protect.
That's not a policy footnote, and it's not up for debate. It's the entire argument for why ICE exists – and every politician demanding its abolition owes the country an answer for every single name on that list of 2,150.
