El-Sayed Attacks Dark Money While Booking Fundraiser at Soros Nephew’s Mansion

Sep 22, 2026

Abdul El-Sayed built his entire Senate campaign on driving billionaires out of politics.

Then Senate Majority PAC quietly banked nine million Soros dollars to elect him.

Now El-Sayed is flying to a billionaire's mansion for even more.

El-Sayed's "Money out of Politics" Pitch Meets a $57,800 Guest List

It's the signature promise of his campaign.

He says it at rallies.

He says it in interviews.

He said it again this month, accusing Republican rival Mike Rogers of letting "corporate special interests" buy him a Senate seat.

Federal filings tell a different story about who's actually funding Abdul El-Sayed.

Soros' two political committees, Democracy PAC and Democracy PAC II, have pushed more than $40 million into Democratic-aligned groups so far this cycle.

Nine million of that went straight to Senate Majority PAC – the Schumer-aligned group now pledging $30 million to elect El-Sayed.

And on September 28, El-Sayed is set to walk into the West Hollywood home of Jeffrey Soros, George Soros' nephew, for a fundraiser where guests can write checks up to $57,800.

A Pattern Democrats Have Run Before

This isn't new.

Soros money has backed Democratic Senate campaigns for years through the same basic playbook.

Ahead of the Georgia runoffs that decided Senate control in 2021, Soros and Michael Bloomberg funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars through Black PAC to help elect Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

The mechanism barely changes from race to race.

Soros writes checks to Democracy PAC.

Democracy PAC forwards the cash to Senate Majority PAC or a similar group.

That group spends it on the ground in whichever state Democrats need to win.

Here's the trick: once the money passes through a nonprofit like this, the super PAC only has to name the nonprofit as the donor – not the billionaire who actually wrote the check.

Push it through one more shell group and the trail disappears entirely.

El-Sayed wants credit for opposing that system while cashing checks it generated.

The Hypocrisy Michigan Voters Are Already Noticing

The Detroit News, Michigan's second-largest paper, endorsed Mike Rogers over El-Sayed this month.

The paper said El-Sayed spent so much effort deleting his old social media history that voters can't know where he really stands.

Outside groups have spent more than $35 million attacking Rogers or boosting El-Sayed since the August primary, with pro-Rogers spending running nearly two-to-one ahead.

El-Sayed's campaign didn't respond when Fox News Digital asked about the Soros ties.

Rogers' campaign didn't hesitate.

A spokeswoman accused El-Sayed of "wining and dining Soros billionaires" while lecturing Rogers about corporate money.

The Soros cash isn't the only alliance El-Sayed has tried to keep quiet.

Rogers has hammered El-Sayed over his ties to far-left streamer Hasan Piker, who once said the U.S. "deserved" the September 11 attacks.

El-Sayed has faced pointed questions on the trail about whether Piker will campaign alongside him.

A candidate who deletes his own history and won't answer for his allies isn't a reformer.

He's running a campaign built on hoping nobody checks.

Why This Race Matters Past November

Michigan is close, and everyone knows it.

El-Sayed and Rogers are running roughly even with a month to go.

Soros money doesn't show up in a race like this by accident.

The family's network has bankrolled progressive prosecutors, funded efforts to end cash bail, and helped build the Senate majority Chuck Schumer needs to keep his gavel.

Put El-Sayed in that seat and Schumer gets one more vote his donor network paid to install.

That's the whole point of the $9 million and the mansion invitation.

Soros isn't funding a "money out of politics" crusader.

He's funding a vote – and Michigan is the one paying for it, right after they finish paying for the gas and groceries El-Sayed claims to care so much about.
