While most football fans are eagerly awaiting the playoff games to see who makes it to the Super Bowl, and teams not in the playoffs are restructuring with changes in coaches, rosters, and staff.
But there is one market that is in shock for another reason.
And football fans were horrified after shocking details emerged surrounding this NFL owner.
Jim Irsay’s latest update has the football world floored
The 2023 NFL season was nothing short of a disappointment for Indianapolis Colts fans after failing even to make the playoffs.
However, on Wednesday, Colts fans got a disturbing update about their owner, Jim Irsay, that could impact his future with the team.
According to numerous reports, Jim Irsay was found unresponsive, clinging to life, after suffering from a suspected drug overdose last December.
In a report published by TMZ, citing police documents, it was revealed that “Police were called to Irsay’s home in Carmel, Ind., around 4:30 a.m. on December 8, after an individual informed the police, they had found Irsay unconscious on his bathroom floor and his skin had turned blue.”
The report adds, “Irsay was in his bed by the time the police arrived, but he was having breathing issues, a weak pulse and constricted pupils, according to the report.”
According to police reports, Narcan was administered to Irsay, which allowed him to respond.
With that in mind, authorities believe this could be an opiate-related drug overdose. However, details are still emerging on that front.
However, Irsay suffered another health scare on January 9, which was attributed to respiratory illnesses.
The Indianapolis Colts issued a statement on the matter: “While this, unfortunately, means he won’t be able to perform with his band this week in Los Angeles, he is receiving excellent care and looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as possible.”
The statement adds, “We’ll have no additional information at this time, and we ask that you respect the privacy of Jim and his family as he recovers.”
Irsay has made his struggles with drug addiction public, having admitted to going to rehab on several occasions.
The Colts and the Irsay family have not yet spoken out about the details of December’s incident, but many expect a statement in the near future.
Irsay’s struggles with drugs highlights America’s widespread opiate problem
Jim Irsay’s struggles with drugs demonstrate the widespread nature of America’s crippling problem with opiates.
People from all economic backgrounds suffer from drug addiction, which kills thousands of Americans every year.
Unfortunately, many experts worry that the flow of fentanyl and other drugs from Mexico will continue to fuel this drug epidemic, especially given the refusal of the Biden administration to act on this matter.
As deadly drugs like fentanyl continue to flow like water across the southern border, more drug-related deaths will occur in the coming future in the United States.
