And Ben and Erin Napier want to tackle one problem that presents their scariest challenge yet.
The latest season of Home Town is a personal one for the Napiers
The husband and wife team of Ben and Erin Napier became stars after the first season of their HGTV reality show Home Town aired in 2016.
Season eight of Home Town is debuting on HGTV and the couple has a different message for audiences.
The Napiers work on restoring historical homes in their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi.
Laurel is a small town of about 17,000.
The husband and wife team hopes this season of Home Town opens viewers’ eyes to the possibility of living in a small town.
“People just have it in their mind what it is to live in a small town and what it isn’t,” Erin told Fox News Digital. “And I hope that the more you watch Home Town, the more you see that you can live the dream.”
Small-town life offers greater possibilities than some viewers might imagine.
“You can have your hot sauce and salsa farm in the middle of town, and you can build a school for children who are underserved,” Erin explained. “You can do anything in a small town. And that’s the story that’s so fun to tell for us.”
The couple returned to their hometown of Laurel in 2008 after graduating from the University of Mississippi.
The new season of Home Town has some twists for the Napiers
The Napiers will have a lot of “firsts” during this season of Home Town.
“The first six episodes are something we’ve never done before,” Erin said.
Episodes will show the Napiers tackling bigger challenges than their typical home renovations.
“That’s big,” Ben explained. “I mean, we’re going to tear down a house. There is a house that we thought we could fix. There is a garden and greenhouse coming. There is a school that we’re building. It’s a lot of stuff.”
The biggest challenge this season for the couple was their work-life balance.
Ben and Erin are raising their two young daughters, Helen age 6, and Mae age 3.
“We’ve never been parents before,” Erin said. “We’re still learning every single day. Learning how to do our jobs well and be the best parents possible is always the biggest challenge.”
Helen will occasionally join them while they tackle renovation projects.
“She comes to work with us after school most days and I have the feeling of being where I am supposed to be,” Erin wrote on social media in May. “We’re having our cake (doing work we love) and eating it too (feeling like a stay at home mom).”
She was excited for Mae to be able to join them when they’re working.
“I can’t wait until Mae is a little older so she can safely come and be with us too,” Erin added. “Trying so hard to soak up these conversations with her, her ideas and thoughts and questions. Missing her babyness but head over heels in love with her grown upness that’s just starting to come into focus. Just out here being twitterpated with motherhood at the moment.”
Ben and Erin Napier are showing audiences that they can live their dreams in a small town.
