Ben Napier faces one big challenge raising two daughters

Ben Napier handles tough renovation projections on his hit HGTV show, Home Town. 

He and his wife Erin restore old houses in their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi. 

After growing up in a household full of boys, Ben is living in a “constant state of fear” raising his two daughters. 

“Growing up, I had three brothers, and I know exactly how to handle boys,” Ben told Fox News. “I am in a constant state of fear with two little girls and wanting to discipline, but how far?”

“But not crush their spirit,” Erin Napier chimed in. 

“And also not make them terrified of me,” Ben added. 

The couple has two daughters who occasionally join them on the job, six-year-old Helen and three-year-old Mae. 

Ben is learning as he goes about raising two girls. 

“I feel like with boys, it’s OK to have a healthy amount of fear of your father,” Ben explained. “With girls it’s like, I need them to know that they can call on me with anything.”

The Napiers are trying to find the right work life balance with their careers on Home Town.

“We’ve never been parents before,” Erin explained. “We’re still learning every single day. Learning how to do our jobs well and be the best parents possible is always the biggest challenge.”

The Napiers met in 2004 while they were in college and married in 2008.

This season of Home Town adds some new twists 

Home Town debuted in 2016 and became one of the most popular shows on HGTV.

This season of the hit show is going to see the Napiers take on some new challenges in their hometown of Laurel. 

“This is an unusual season because everything that happens in the first six episodes is a first for us,” Erin explained. “We’ve never done a garden and a greenhouse. We’ve never built a school. We’ve never built an addition to a house we did years ago. We’ve never had to tear a house down.”

Ben added that the show still maintains its charm that made it a smash hit.

“We’ve torn a house down before, but this one where we thought we were going to fix it,” Ben stated. “We’ve built a greenhouse for us. This is actually for a homeowner’s small business. It’s a big job. We have the small town wonderfulness that Home Town always has.”

The couple took what may be their biggest challenge of converting a house into a school.

“Well, we convert a landmark historic house in downtown Laurel,” Erin said. “It has been there since the town was founded basically. We convert it into a school for underserved kids. It’s one of the most special projects we’ve ever got to do.”

Ben and Erin Napier are upping the difficulty level for this season of Home Town.
