Ro Khanna spent years grilling witnesses about Chinese Communist Party infiltration of American institutions.
Now a 2013 photograph has surfaced showing his own hand-picked advisor posing beside a suspected Chinese intelligence operative.
What Khanna's spokeswoman said about Henry Yin changed completely once the cameras started rolling.
Yin Sat on APAPA's Board Next to a Consul General While Fang Fang Watched
The photo is from February 2013, outside San Francisco's Embarcadero Center.
Henry Yin stands among the top leaders of the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association at a farewell dinner for the outgoing Chinese consul general.
Standing behind them: Christine "Fang Fang" Fang, the woman federal investigators later tied to fundraising and staffing inside Eric Swalwell's 2014 congressional campaign.
Yin has not been charged with any crime, and he was not some anonymous face in the crowd.
He is the man Ro Khanna named his Senior Advisor on Foreign Trade and Economic Development in September 2019 – the same ally he would go on to thank publicly for his "leadership" and call one of his "good friends."
Yin has spent decades cultivating relationships in China, including trade delegations that helped Chinese firms open offices in California and reported participation in at least ten United Front-hosted events.
He posed as a self-described "VIP" at a 2009 banquet in the Great Hall of the People, in a room that included Xi Jinping himself.
Khanna's Office Has Given Two Different Answers About Henry Yin
Confronted by Fox News Digital earlier this year, a Khanna spokesperson insisted Yin "has never been employed by Rep. Khanna" and "doesn't serve in any role in his office or campaign."
That denial has not aged well.
Khanna posted a photo sitting beside Yin at a political event in Sunnyvale this past February, writing that he was "honored to be back in the district, hearing directly from Chinese American community leaders."
APAPA's own January 2022 press release, announcing Yin joining its national governing board, states that he "has served as Senior Advisor to U.S. Representative Ro Khanna."
Khanna's office had not responded as of publication when Fox News Digital asked this week whether it still stands by its earlier denial.
Silence is an answer too.
The Same Congressman Investigating This Exact Playbook
This should make every voter in Silicon Valley furious.
Khanna is the Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
That committee has spent years warning the country that Beijing's United Front Work Department works to coopt and influence foreign political, academic, and business elites on behalf of the CCP – the very tactic experts call elite capture.
Khanna's own committee mapped out exactly how it works.
Khanna's own advisor fits the profile.
You cannot run the fire department and keep a candle shop in your garage.
Democrats will call it guilt by association.
Fine – then explain why Khanna's office denied a title that APAPA's own newsletter had printed years earlier.
Explain why a man surrounded by CCP consulate officials, United Front event hosts, and a suspected foreign agent ended up advising a sitting congressman on trade with China.
Explain why Khanna gets a pass Republicans would never get for the exact same photo.
The Bay Area has produced a documented pattern here, not a one-off.
Eric Swalwell sat on House Intelligence while Fang Fang raised money for him and placed an intern in his office.
Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang was charged this year with acting as a Chinese government agent.
California Treasurer Fiona Ma has met with United Front-linked officials at least thirty times since 1999.
Khanna is next in that lineup – and he's the one man in Washington who was supposed to see it coming.
