Marco Rubio Stopped Mid Answer And Said He Messed Up

The left spent years telling you that loving football, God, and country made you a dangerous extremist.

Then the Secretary of State caught himself mid answer on an official State Department podcast and admitted he'd given the wrong one.

What he corrected it to is going to make every liberal in Washington choke on their kombucha.

The Secretary of State Sounds Nothing Like a Secretary of State

Marco Rubio sat down with Katie Miller at the State Department on August 11 to record her podcast.

She asked what he'd do with a week off, and he started answering, then caught himself.

"But the true answer is, and here's where I messed up that answer, okay?" Rubio said.

The real answer had nothing to do with rest, reflection, or foreign policy.

He ranked college football's Saturday pregame coverage above anything else on television, then walked through the whole day – a full slate of games, a few hours of sleep, and a wake up call for NFL Sunday, capped by the night game.

By his own account, it was the best possible way to spend a weekend – and one his wife, Jeanette, wasn't going to love hearing about.

This is the same man who spent that morning navigating Iran, Venezuela, and China.

The Guy Actually Played the Game

The left spent eight years telling you that Trump voters were knuckle-dragging rubes who didn't understand the world.

They said serious, credentialed people didn't watch football all day or cheer for their kid's team.

Rubio isn't a fan who discovered football from the owner's box.

He played it – on scholarship at Tarkio College in Missouri, until the school went bankrupt and an injury ended his shot.

He transferred to Florida, earned his law degree at the University of Miami, and became the first Latino Secretary of State in American history.

His son Anthony walked on at Florida and scored his first collegiate touchdown in the 2024 Gasparilla Bowl against Tulane.

Rubio's reaction on X wasn't about the score.

"But what I am truly proud of is the joy from his teammates and that he gave all the glory to God."

That's the family running American foreign policy.

The Left Has No Answer for This

Compare that to what Democrats have offered as their version of relatable.

Pete Buttigieg lectured Americans about infrastructure in French.

Kamala Harris riffed about the meaning of time and context.

Joe Biden told union crowds he used to drive an 18-wheeler.

Rubio just told the country he'd blow an entire week on college football and NFL Sundays, on the record, without walking it back.

Fans noticed.

"I believe this is the greatest public statement ever given by an American politician," one fan wrote after the clip spread online.

That reaction isn't random.

Rubio grew up the son of a bartender and a hotel maid, Cuban immigrants who built a life in Miami from nothing.

Football wasn't a status symbol in that house – it was the American dream on a Saturday afternoon.

Trump's cabinet is full of people who still live like the voters who put them there.

That's the part that drives Democrats insane, and the part that keeps winning elections.
