Mary Peltola’s Alaska Senate Campaign Just Contradicted Its Own Kamala Harris Story

Kamala Harris lost Alaska by 13 points and never got Mary Peltola's endorsement in return.

This week Harris's PAC sent Alaska voters a fundraising email anyway – and Peltola's campaign called it a total surprise.

It wasn't.

Harris's Fight for the People PAC emailed Peltola supporters Wednesday, framing Alaska as one of the most important Senate races in the country for Democrats.

Harris argued that Peltola was the one who could flip the seat – but she "cannot do it alone."

The message asked donors to split their contribution between Peltola's Senate campaign and Harris's own PAC.

Peltola's team moved fast.

A campaign spokesperson told KTUU that Peltola wasn't looking for outside help, saying her focus "is and always will be Alaska," and pointed instead to labor endorsements from AFGE, the Alaska AFL-CIO and IBEW Local 1547.

The campaign said it had no knowledge of the email before it went out.

Republicans didn't buy it, and neither should Alaskans.

Peltola's Campaign Requested the Kamala Harris Email It Later Denied Approving

RedState reported that journalist Yashar Ali revealed Peltola's own campaign had requested a fundraising email from Harris's PAC back in late July.

Weeks before Harris ever hit send.

Peltola's team may not have signed off on Harris's exact wording.

But they asked Kamala Harris for help – then told reporters they had no idea it was coming.

That is not a communications accident.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee wasted no time using the email against her.

NRSC regional press secretary Nick Puglia accused Peltola of working "hand in hand with Kamala Harris to put Alaska last."

Sullivan's own campaign spokesman, Nate Adams, went further, saying Alaskans "can see exactly whose team Mary Peltola and Kamala Harris are on."

President Trump has publicly backed Sullivan's reelection bid, calling him a man who has "ALWAYS delivered for Alaska."

Peltola pointedly declined to endorse Harris during the 2024 presidential race Harris lost so badly here.

That was supposed to be the whole brand: independent, Alaska-first, not beholden to national Democrats.

Her own campaign just handed Republicans proof that the brand was a performance.

Why Kamala Harris Needed Mary Peltola's Alaska Senate Campaign More Than Peltola Needed Her

Harris hasn't ruled out running for president again in 2028.

"I might, I might. I'm thinking about it," she told Al Sharpton earlier this year.

The Fight for the People PAC is the machine that keeps that option funded and alive – and Peltola's Senate race just became a fundraising vehicle for it, with donations split between the two operations.

If she wins, Peltola would be the first Alaska Democrat elected to the Senate in nearly two decades, in a race where Republican outside groups have already booked millions in ad reservations.

She raised $6.9 million between April and June, more than triple Sullivan's haul over the same stretch, and a recent poll showed her leading Sullivan 50.8% to 49.2% in ranked-choice projections.

None of that changes what her own campaign already admitted by asking for help it later claimed to know nothing about.

Alaska voters go to the polls Tuesday for the primary – and now they know exactly whose team Mary Peltola is really on.
