But Mary wasn’t about to let a bunch of doctors decide her husband’s fate based on statistics.

She went to Randy’s bedside and that’s when something miraculous happened.

"That’s when I went to him. That’s when I knew that Randy Travis was gonna make it, because he squeezed my hand and a tear went down his face. I said, ‘He’s still fighting,’" Mary explained.²

That hand squeeze and single tear told Mary everything she needed to know.

Her husband wasn’t ready to give up, and neither was she.

Mary became what she calls a "mama bear" advocating for Randy to his medical team.
