The days of a simple hot dog and peanuts at the ballgame are long gone.

MLB teams across the country are unveiling elaborate new menu items for the 2025 season that will have fans’ heads spinning faster than a Clayton Kershaw curveball.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are leading the charge with their absurdly named “Grand Slamwich” at Chase Field. This 20-inch monstrosity is part chicken Parmesan and part Italian meatball sandwich served with kettle chips and giardiniera.

“It’s an amazing sandwich,” Levy regional chef Ryan Evans told Fox News Digital. “It’s one of those [where] you walk down the concourse and people want to know where you got it.”

What Evans conveniently failed to mention was how anyone is supposed to eat this mammoth creation without wearing half of it home. The Diamondbacks clearly believe bigger is better when it comes to ballpark cuisine.

Chicago Cubs transform traditional food for social media appeal

Not to be outdone, the Chicago Cubs are offering the “Jibarito Sandwich” at Wrigley Field, featuring roast beef stuffed between two fried plantains instead of bread.

“It’s a showstopper,” Evans bragged about the sandwich that replaces something as basic as bread with smashed and fried plantains.

Cubs fans can find it in section 117 when Chicago hosts the San Diego Padres starting on April 4. Of course, finding it is one thing – eating it without making a mess is another matter entirely.

Evans said four new dishes will rotate each homestand, with the most popular returning later in the season. Translation: whichever food item gets the most Instagram posts will be brought back so fans can continue posting about it.

Yankees serve dessert in plastic helmets for maximum markup

The New York Yankees, always looking to one-up everyone else, are introducing the “Petroni Tiramisu” at Yankee Stadium this season.

This dessert comes in a collectible Yankees helmet, as if the ticket just to get into the stadium wasn’t enough of a souvenir.

The Yankees are also offering a “Petroni sundae” with vanilla ice cream, hazelnut hot fudge, cannoli praline crunch, and vanilla panna – because apparently regular ice cream isn’t fancy enough for the Bronx Bombers.

Both are available in section 125, where fans can wait in long lines for the privilege of eating dessert from plastic headgear.

Dodgers swing for the fences with a 16-inch sausage

The Los Angeles Dodgers are introducing “The Slugger” – a 16-inch jalapeño cheddar sausage topped with corn relish, white chedder cheese sauce, cilantro crema, and crunchy tortilla strips, served with fries.

Evans described it as “super juicy and flavorful and smoky” when you bite into it. He failed to mention how anyone could possibly finish this foot-and-a-half long meat tube without help.

This elongated sausage can be found in the left-field pavilion at Think Blue Bar-B-Que near section 51 and on the reserve level near section 31 of Dodger Stadium – areas that are conveniently located near restrooms for when fans inevitably need to deal with the aftermath.

Mariners offer blue corn dogs because… why not?

The Seattle Mariners are jumping on the bandwagon with their “What Up Corn Dog,” described as a “Mariners blue, honey-battered corn dog with a spicy crunch served with nacho cheese.”

This ordinary corn dog with a splash of blue food coloring can be found in sections 143, 195, 319, and 333 of T-Mobile Park – where fans can marvel at how food dye transforms a simple fair favorite into a “stadium exclusive.”

Baseball has abandoned culinary common sense

The irony isn’t lost on long-time baseball fans. America’s pastime used to be about the game itself with simple concessions that didn’t require two hands and a bib to consume.

Now teams are competing to see who can create the most absurd and Instagram-worthy food items that seem designed more for social media posts than actual consumption.

By the time a family of four finishes attempting to eat these “showstopper” food items, they’ll likely be wearing more of their meal than they managed to eat – all while missing several innings of the actual game they came to see.

Baseball fans just want to grab a hot dog and watch the game, but MLB owners have completely lost their minds. Stadiums are pushing $30 “gourmet” burgers topped with gold flakes and lobster tails that require an engineering degree just to figure out how to eat.

Whatever happened to peanuts and Cracker Jack? The average fan is getting priced out faster than you can say “strike three.”
