Many Americans remember growing up and staying up late to see who won best show or song, but liberal political activists have destroyed award shows.
Every year, Hollywood elite line up to receive awards, often for programs, movies, and albums that few people have ever heard of, using their time to spew far-left rhetoric and berate the values of their fans.
Now, the Emmys are only continuing to kill their own award show when they handed out this “woke” award.
This year’s Emmy Awards are making headlines for all of the wrong reasons
Every year, television enthusiasts tune into the Emmys to see which of their favorite stars and programs will receive the Emmy award.
However, over the years, the Emmys and other awards shows have become nothing more than opportunities for Hollywood elites to gush over themselves and their extreme far-left worldviews.
At this year’s Emmy awards show, which just took place last Sunday night, Barack Obama received his second Emmy for his Netflix documentary series, “Working: What We Do All Day.”
According to Breitbart News, “The former President, who was not at the ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, beat fellow nominees Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett, Mahershala Ali, and Pedro Pascal in what was by far the most star-studded category at the Creative Arts Emmys, a two-night award-show marathon that mostly honors less-than-famous artists, crew members, and crafts people in television.”
Almost immediately after receiving the award, the internet erupted in skepticism, with many pointing to Barack Obama’s political legacy as a leading cause for his receiving of the award.
The Emmys have a reputation for handing their awards out with political motivation, giving disgraced New York Governor Andrew Cuomo an Emmy in 2020 for his response to the COVID pandemic, which many criticized as cruel, botched, and futile.
Andrew Cuomo had his Emmy taken back soon after as a direct result of the sexual harassment allegations that cost him his job.
Upon receiving his Emmy, the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences CEO Bruce Paisner explained, “The Governor’s 111 daily briefings worked so well because he effectively created television shows with characters, plot lines, and stories of success and failure.”
Politically motivated awards like that one have turned many viewers away from the awards show, causing viewership to decline steadily over the last decade.
Fewer and fewer Americans are tuning into major award shows like the Emmys
In years past, Americans eagerly tuned into Award shows. However, those days are long gone.
Studies show that fewer Americans than ever are watching awards shows like the Emmys.
According to statista.com, only 5.92 million Americans tuned into the Emmys last year, the lowest viewership in the history of the Emmys.
For comparison, roughly 17.8 million viewers tuned in for the 2013 Emmys just ten years ago.
Many media experts blame the over-politicization of the Emmys for this monumental collapse. However, it appears that these warnings have fallen upon deaf ears.
