Reality TV used to be the golden ticket for fading celebrities looking to revive their careers.
Those days are long gone.
Now even C-list socialites are running for the hills when Bravo comes calling with a Real Housewives contract.
Nicky Hilton, the younger sister of Paris Hilton, became the latest high-profile name to slam the door on The Real Housewives of New York City.
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM's Page Six Radio, host Danny Murphy brought up how current RHONY star Jessel Taank wants Hilton to "join in on the fun."
Murphy asked the 42-year-old fashion designer and businesswoman, "Would that be fun for you?"
"No," Hilton answered without hesitation.¹
When pressed about whether it was "too much stress or just not your vibe," Hilton was crystal clear about her position.
"It's not my vibe," she stated flatly.²
Even her mother, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kathy Hilton, knew her daughter would never agree to the gig.

Nicky Hilton's rejection shouldn't surprise anyone who's been paying attention to what happens to celebrities who get mixed up with reality TV.
The franchise that once attracted legitimate socialites and wealthy women now has to beg makeup artists, dog walkers, and yoga instructors to join their shows.
"Even when the show was at its hottest, no real celebrity was touching it," one industry insider revealed. "Martha Stewart? Forget it. Gayle King? Never. The closest they got was C-list socialites and the occasional washed-up actress."³
Now casting producers are "desperately" trolling through New York's "almost famous" circles because actual celebrities won't touch the shows with a ten-foot pole.

She declined to appear on The Simple Life back in 2003 and has successfully built her own fashion and jewelry empire without the drama.
Her business ventures include successful collaborations with French Sole shoes, her Theo Grace jewelry line, and multiple fashion collections.
Smart celebrities like Christina Applegate, Chrissy Teigen, and Meghan Markle have all turned down Real Housewives offers because they recognize the shows are career killers, not career makers.
"I don't like fighting, I really don't. I would cry a lot," Teigen admitted when explaining why she won't join the franchise.⁶
The authenticity crisis hitting the Real Housewives shows has made viewers skeptical about manufactured storylines and fake drama.
Fans are tired of being "duped" by cast members who lie about major life events for television.
Networks are struggling to find authentic cast members because anyone with something to lose won't risk their reputation for a Bravo paycheck.
Even Nicky's mother Kathy, who appeared on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, admitted her daughters "were not happy with this decision" and joked that Kathy only signed up because she was "bored" during the pandemic.⁷
