But the TikTok baker made one brutal rookie mistake on Wheel of Fortune and it cost her dearly.
Naples baker walked into Bonus Round with nearly $26,000
Romi Benoit brought her bread and cookie-making skills from TikTok to the Wheel of Fortune studio on January 16.
The Naples, Florida certified TikTok baker dominated the competition from start to finish.
Benoit solved the first toss-up puzzle and kept rolling.
She grabbed the Express Wedge during the prize puzzle round and solved "Brush Up On Your Spanish" for a trip to Spain worth $23,798.
Ryan Seacrest could barely contain his surprise at the haul.
"Wow," the new host said.
By the end of the show, Benoit crushed her opponents with $25,798 in winnings.
She advanced to the Bonus Round where contestants face one final puzzle for massive cash prizes.
Fans destroyed her letter strategy the moment puzzle appeared
The Bonus Round category "What Are You Doing?" appeared on screen.
Wheel of Fortune automatically provides R, S, T, L, N, and E to contestants.
Benoit's puzzle showed “_ _ST _ _ _ _ _N_ _R_ _N_.”
Then came the critical moment that cost her $65,000.
Benoit chose M, F, C, and A as her additional letters.
Game show fans watching at home immediately knew those letters would reveal nothing helpful.
"Classic CDMA would've done it," one YouTube commenter wrote.
The correct answer was "Just Kidding Around."
But with none of her additional letters coming up the board now showed “_ _ST _ _ _ _ _N_ AR_ _N_.”
Bonoit guessed “Just Laying Around,” “Just Hanging Out,” and “Just Winning Around.”
If Benoit had stuck with the traditional CDMA letter combination, the D would have appeared twice in the puzzle.
That single letter would have given her "_ _ST _ _DD_ N_ AR_ _ND" on the board.
Strategic letter choice separates winners from losers
Data analysis from years of Wheel of Fortune bonus puzzles reveals the brutal truth about letter selection.
The most common contestant picks are C, D, M, and A — which became so popular the puzzles are now deliberately designed to reduce their effectiveness.
But research from analyzing over 1,500 bonus puzzles shows a different optimal strategy.
Expert analysis points to G, H, P, and O as statistically superior choices based on actual puzzle letter frequency.
The Washington Post reported in 2015 that contestants who chose GHPO had measurably better success rates.
One 2013 analysis found that "O" appears most frequently in bonus puzzles, making it the smartest vowel pick.
"M is an awful pick," that same analysis concluded, noting it ranked 21st in letter frequency.
For "What Are You Doing?" puzzles specifically, the strategy shifts because every answer ends in "-ING."
That makes the G reveal worthless since it's automatically in a predictable position.
"Yeah, she had no prayer with the letters she called. I didn't have a clue," one fan commented on the YouTube video.
"Had called the letter D and she would've made a little difference!" another viewer complained.
Seacrest tried softening the blow after Benoit failed to solve the puzzle.
"Maybe another letter or two, and you were going to get there," the host said.
Benoit walked away with her $25,798 in regular game winnings.
But she missed out on an additional $40,000 in cash plus a trip to Morocco.
All because she picked M instead of D.
