The passing of a beloved rock legend brings out the best in most people.

But it also reveals the worst in others.

And one sicko crossed the line at Ozzy Osbourne’s memorial that left fans seeing red.

When heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22 at age 76, fans around the world mourned the loss of the "Prince of Darkness."

Birmingham – Ozzy’s hometown and where Black Sabbath got their start – turned into the place where fans wanted to say goodbye.

People started showing up at the Black Sabbath bench on Broad Street with flowers, letters, personal stuff. You name it, they brought it.

Some fans flew in from other countries just to leave something there.

Sharon Osbourne and the kids stopped by during Ozzy’s funeral procession on July 30. They looked at what people had left and added their own flowers.¹

Most people treated the place right.

But not this Jafari guy.

West Midlands Police arrested 45-year-old Parviz Jafari on August 2 after getting reports that someone was stealing stuff from the memorial.

Police looked into it and figured out pretty quick that Jafari was their man.²

Now he’s got theft charges and has to show up in court on September 3.

Rock fans can’t believe someone would stoop this low

Ozzy fans were absolutely disgusted when they heard about the theft.

Think about it – you’ve got people traveling hundreds of miles to leave a single flower or handwritten note at this memorial. They’re pouring their hearts out, sharing memories of how Ozzy’s music got them through tough times.

And this guy Jafari sees all that emotion and thinks, "What can I grab for myself?"

Central BID, the organization handling the memorial, had been carefully preserving everything for Ozzy’s family. According to the BBC, they planned to process all the floral tributes and scatter the flowers at Osbourne’s grave.

Paul Barnett from Central BID told the BBC his team was working nonstop to sort through thousands of items that fans left from around the world.

"There’s a forever memorial, if you will, for the love people had for Ozzy," Barnett explained. Every single item was getting catalogued at a secure location.

The Osbourne family wanted all that love documented, which makes Jafari’s crime even more disgusting.³

The real story behind this disgusting crime

Look, this goes way beyond some guy swiping a few flowers.

Jafari saw grieving fans and thought, "What’s in this for me?" That’s the same twisted mentality you see in people who loot during hurricanes or run scams on elderly folks after their spouses die.

Some of these fans saved up money for months just to make the trip to Birmingham. They brought flowers, handwritten letters, even personal items that meant something to them. Each tribute represented a genuine connection to Ozzy’s music and what it meant in their lives.

But none of that registered with this guy.

The timing makes it even worse. Black Sabbath had just performed their farewell show at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5. Ozzy died just 17 days later.⁴

So you had this beautiful moment where tens of thousands of fans came together to say goodbye to their hero. Then when he actually passed away, they naturally wanted to continue that celebration of his life.

That’s what the memorial was – an extension of that farewell concert, a place where people could process their grief together.

The memorial that popped up afterward was fans’ way of continuing that goodbye – a place to share stories and remember what Ozzy meant to them.

Jafari decided to violate that sacred space for his own benefit.

You want to know why people are so cynical these days? It’s because of stuff like this. Someone creates something beautiful and meaningful, and there’s always some lowlife ready to wreck it.

This is exactly the kind of person who ruins things for everybody else.
