Pringles just announced one bold move that caught the entire snack industry off guard

Aug 31, 2025

The snack aisle has been pretty boring lately.

Most companies play it safe with the same old flavors year after year.

But Pringles just announced one bold move that will have snack lovers racing to the store.

Pringles unleashes six new flavors to dominate the snack game

While other snack companies stick to playing it safe, Pringles decided to go all-in with six brand new flavors hitting shelves this September.

The lineup includes three smoky flavors that’ll make your mouth water: Smoky Bacon, Smoky Mesquite BBQ, and Smoky Cheddar.

They’re also rolling out Sharp White Cheddar – because sometimes you need that bite of real cheese flavor.

And here’s where it gets interesting for folks with a sweet tooth.

Pringles is expanding their Mingles line with Cinnamon & Sugar – their first sweet flavor since 2016 – plus a new Jalapeño & Queso that balances creamy cheese with just enough heat.

“At Pringles, we’re constantly thinking of new ways to satisfy our fans’ cravings, and bringing this suite of sweet, smoky, savory flavor to shelves is an exciting expansion of the unique snacking experiences Pringles offers,” said Mauricio Jenkins, US Head of Marketing for Pringles.¹

The Smoky Bacon packs that rich, meaty flavor you’d expect from real hickory-smoked bacon.

Smoky Mesquite BBQ delivers classic barbecue taste with a smoky kick that barbecue lovers will recognize.

And the Smoky Cheddar gives you that perfect combo of wood-smoked flavor mixed with sharp, creamy cheese.

NYC restaurant creates exclusive Pringles dish that sounds incredible

But Pringles didn’t stop at just releasing new flavors.

They partnered with Chef Calvin Eng at Bonnie’s restaurant in Brooklyn to create something nobody’s ever tried before.

Starting September 2nd, Bonnie’s will serve “Pringles Smoky Mesquite BBQ Bok Gop” – basically a perfectly cooked whole squab that’s been marinated with those new Smoky Mesquite BBQ chip flavors and traditional five spice salt.²

And they’re garnishing it with actual Pringles chips.

“I love to riff on classic Cantonese banquet dishes, and nothing is more nostalgic to me than eating a platter of crispy chicken served with five spice salt and Pringles at a Chinatown banquet hall,” Chef Eng explained. “I was so excited to start recipe testing when the brand reached out about creating a unique recipe featuring the new Smoky Mesquite BBQ Pringles flavor.”³

This gives New York food lovers a chance to try the new Smoky Mesquite BBQ flavor before it hits store shelves nationwide.

Chef Eng wrote the cookbook “Salt Sugar MSG” and owns one of Brooklyn’s hottest restaurants right now.

The dish will only be available during September, making it a legitimate limited-time experience.

What this really tells us about American business innovation

Look at what’s happening here.

While other companies worry about focus groups and playing it safe, Pringles is betting big on bold flavors that people actually want.

They’re not afraid to experiment with smoky bacon, mesquite BBQ, and even sweet cinnamon sugar.

That takes guts in today’s business climate where everyone’s scared of making the wrong move.

And partnering with a trendy NYC chef? That’s smart marketing that creates buzz beyond just putting products on shelves.

The Sharp White Cheddar flavor shows they’re listening to customers who want that authentic cheese taste – not some artificial substitute.

Pringles has been around for over 50 years, but they’re not acting like some old company that’s given up on innovation.

They’re acting like a startup that’s hungry to win market share.

The Mingles expansion is especially clever because it gives people lighter, puffed options when they want something different from traditional chips.

And that Cinnamon & Sugar flavor? First sweet Pringles since 2016 means they’ve been waiting for the right moment to bring back dessert flavors.

You can find all six new flavors at retailers nationwide starting in September.

For folks in New York City, head to Bonnie’s starting September 2nd to try that exclusive Smoky Mesquite BBQ squab dish.

This is what happens when American companies decide to innovate instead of playing defense.
