Now she’s taking on one of her biggest challenges yet.

Reba McEntire is headed back to network TV with a new sitcom

Country music legend Reba McEntire starred in The CW sitcom Reba from 2001 to 2007 where it became a cult hit.

17 years later, McEntire is headed back to network TV in the NBC sitcom Happy’s Place, which will debut this fall.

She and her former Reba co-star Melissa Peterman are reuniting on the show.

Peterman played the younger woman who stole McEntire’s character’s husband in The CW sitcom. 

The pair became close friends after working together on Reba.

“It’s just easy, it’s like riding a bike,” Peterman said about working with McEntire again. “We’ve never really left each other. I mean, the show ended, and we’ve been friends ever since.”

They’ve worked together on TV shows like Young Sheldon and The Hammer after their sitcom went off the air.

Former Reba executive producer Kevin Abbott is also joining Happy’s Place and has the challenge of keeping them from “backsliding” into their old characters.

“We rely totally on the writing,” McEntire said.

“Pressure’s all on Kevin,” Peterman joked.

This is McEntire’s first sitcom since Reba, which she is excited to do again.

“I love the sitcom genre. Of all the things I get to do, this is my favorite,” McEntire said. “And to get to work with these folks, that’s icing on the cake.”

Happy’s Place has many of the same writers, producers, and showrunners who worked on Reba.

The new sitcom stars McEntire as Bobbie who returns home to take over her father’s bar after he passes away.

She discovers that she has to run the bar with a half-sister that she never knew existed, Isabella – played by actress Belissa Escobedo.

Reba McEntire is composing the theme song for her new sitcom

McEntire used a version of her song “I’m a Survivor” that she performed for the theme song to Reba. 

The song is still popular on videos on Instagram and TikTok. 

Now she’s written the theme to Happy’s Place and is ready to perform it.

“It’s written, and we’re recording it at the end of this month. We’ll see if you like it,” McEntire told The Hollywood Reporter.

McEntire told Entertainment Tonight in May that everything went great with the pilot to Happy’s Place.

“The cast is wonderful. We’re so excited,” McEntire said. “We shot the pilot and everybody said, ‘You know, this is like a second season first episode instead of the pilot and that’s the way I felt. Everybody gelled, everybody got along, and the writing is wonderful, so I’m really happy. I’m so happy.”

Reba McEntire will try to create sitcom magic once again when she returns to TV this fall on Happy’s Place.
