Terry Moran Just Revealed How Fauci Gutted The Lab Leak Report He Broke For ABC

Rand Paul's release of Fauci's private diary already proved the doctor was managing the press behind closed doors.

Now a former ABC News insider says that management reached straight into his own newsroom.

Terry Moran just admitted his 2021 lab leak segment got mangled the same day it landed on Anthony Fauci's desk.

Moran Says His Own Network Turned His Report Into Legal Mush

Terry Moran spent nearly 28 years at ABC News.

He told "The Fifth Column" podcast this week that his 2021 "Nightline" piece on the COVID lab leak theory came back from review buried in legal caveats and barely watchable.

Moran said lawyers and standards executives rewrote it into a mess he could barely recognize.

He said he was told the script had been sent to one more reader first: Anthony Fauci.

"Lawyers, standards and, I was told, Fauci," Moran said when asked who reviewed his script.

Moran said he was cursing and screaming in the booth the day the segment aired.

He called it the angriest he had ever been at the network.

He has still never watched his own story air.

The Diary Rand Paul Released Already Showed Why This Matters

This is not a random anecdote from one disgruntled reporter.

Rand Paul spent weeks forcing Fauci's own 1,100-page pandemic diary into public view, and it shows a man privately tracking his media coverage like a campaign manager.

Fauci wrote about a front-page Washington Post profile, Brad Pitt playing him on Saturday Night Live, and an email from Barbara Streisand.

He wrote about the sudden scale of his own fame, calling it more overwhelming than he ever imagined possible.

Conservative media watchdogs have already flagged the diary for revealing what they call chummy collusion between Fauci and elite reporters at outlets including CNN and ABC.

Moran's story is the proof that collusion wasn't just social.

It was editorial.

Government Agencies Now Back the Theory ABC Buried

Moran said his own gut in 2021 leaned toward a natural origin, but he still let the lab leak theory get a hearing.

ABC's lawyers couldn't stomach even that.

Years later, the FBI, the Department of Energy, and the CIA have all concluded a lab leak is the more likely explanation for how COVID started.

FBI Director Christopher Wray said publicly in 2023 that his agency believed the virus most likely escaped a lab, two years after ABC gutted Moran's report.

None of that new evidence mattered to the people editing his script in 2021.

They just needed to protect the man everyone now admits was managing his own coverage from the inside.

Sound familiar? It should.

NPR CEO Katherine Maher told Congress in 2025 that her network was flat wrong to ignore the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020.

NPR's own editors dismissed it at the time as a distraction not worth their readers' attention.

The FBI knew the laptop was real and stayed silent anyway, and Twitter blocked the New York Post from sharing it.

A sitting presidential election got decided partly by a press corps that already knew the truth and buried it.

Moran is now describing the same instinct at ABC, just aimed at a virus instead of a laptop.

Protect the preferred narrative first, and let the facts catch up years later, if ever.

Fauci Is Fighting A Contempt Referral While His Media Friends Look Away

Fauci is currently fighting a contempt referral to the Justice Department after pleading the Fifth 111 times before Rand Paul's committee.

Fauci has accused Paul of leading a crusade to imprison him.

Meanwhile the man's diary shows him cozying up to the same anchors who spent years calling the lab leak theory a conspiracy.

Moran just handed Americans the missing piece: Fauci wasn't just managing his image with reporters, he was allegedly shaping what actually got broadcast.

That is not journalism.

That is a public health bureaucrat editing the news about himself, with a taxpayer-funded network's blessing.

The same reporters lecturing you about misinformation spent years running interference for the one man with the most to hide.

Americans deserve to know how many other stories got the Fauci treatment before they ever reached a television screen.
