Occasionally, some actors leave the small screen for greater fame and fortune while some fade into obscurity and then, are those who have tragic ends.

Sadly, this former General Hospital star faded from public life and was just found dead in an open field in California.

Robyn Bernard, an actress best known for her starring role as Terry Brock in the long-running ABC soap opera General Hospital in the late 1980s, has died.

Found in an open field

A news release from the Riverside County, California Sheriff’s Office said the body of the actress was found in an “Open field behind business 1800 block of S. San Jacinto Ave., San Jacinto 92583.”

The release also listed her time of death at 4:08 a.m. for the 64-year-old
actress.

Bernard lived in San Jacinto.

TMZ reported Bernard’s body was identified by her fingerprints and also reported police found her body in response to a call they received.

As of the writing of this article, the cause of death has not been determined.

The autopsy results have not been released and results from toxicology tests will not be available for weeks.

The New York Post reported that foul play is not suspected in her death.
Bernard was born in Gladewater, Texas and her career began as a singer along with her younger sister, Crystal.

Crystal followed Bernard into acting and later starred in the 1990 sitcom Wings.

In 1981, Robyn Bernard appeared in Jean-Jacques Beneix’s hit “Diva.”

Bernard made her first appearance on General Hospital in 1984 and played the role of Terry Brock (later Terry O’Connor) for 145 episodes over 6 years.

Bernard also appeared in shows like Simon & Simon, Whiz Kids, and The Facts of Life.

Written off the show after struggling with alcohol

Brock later developed a problem with alcohol that impacted her music career, and as it turned out her acting career as well.

Bernard’s character was written off the show in March 1990 after she signed a recording deal and she left the fictional town of Port Charles, New York forever.

In 1986, Bernard also appeared in the French movie Betty Blue, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.

After leaving General Hospital, Bernard had roles in a 1992 French miniseries titled Maigret and then in the 1997 movie, Kings for a Day.

Bernard’s final film credit came in the 2002 movie Voices from High School, in which she played a psychologist.

After her show business career sputtered to an end, she was living in a mobile home almost two hours from Los Angeles and had stopped connecting with fans.

In 2018, Bernard was involved in a fire at her trailer park and spent time living with her father, whom she reconnected with after the fire.

But shortly after that, Bernard simply seemed to disappear.

Local San Jacinto news site, Action EYE, filled in the blanks of those mystery years and reported that Bernard was known locally to be homeless.

The troubled actress leaves behind her father, Jerry Wayne Bernard, and her sisters Crystal and Scarlett.
