It’s no secret that there has been nothing but chaos at the United States southern border since Joe Biden took office.
And while most people only see what the media reports, there’s even scarier information available that most of the public doesn’t know.
Now, a new report just revealed a terrifying truth about what’s really going on down at our nation’s southern border.
More people on terrorist watch list entering the country
When most people think of illegal aliens, they imagine families or individuals coming from countries in South America looking for a better life.
But a new report just released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reveals something much more sinister.
The report found an ever-increasing number of people on the U.S. Terrorist Watchlist have been encountered at U.S. borders this year.
According to DHS officials, a record number of illegals has “complicated border and immigration security” in 2023.
The report found that approximately 160 non-U.S. citizens on the terrorist watchlist have attempted to enter the country in 2023 thus far.
Even worse, these people mainly were “encountered attempting to illegally enter between ports of entry,” said the annual Homeland Threat Assessment report.
This is a staggering increase from 2022, when border officials encountered close to 100 people on the watchlist in total.
The report said, “We expect continued high numbers of migrant encounters over the next year because traditional drivers of migration to the United States remain unchanged and frustration with waiting for legal migration pathways may grow.”
It continues, “Terrorists and criminal actors may exploit the elevated flow and increasingly complex security environment to enter the United States.”
This report shines a light on the failings of the Biden administration, who are now putting the safety and security of every American at risk.
A DHS official spoke to reporters, telling them that every individual encountered at the border must go through biometric and biographic vetting and screening.
The official also said that Customs and Border Protection has expanded its information-sharing agreements with international partners “to enhance their ability to prevent, detect, and investigate trafficking and other crimes.”
The report says that the number of people traveling to the United States from the Eastern Hemisphere has doubled in the last year.
The surge of people on the watchlist is likely because many of these illegals “require additional processing and repatriation resources,” the report said.
DHS downplays the situation
When the number of people on the terrorist watch list has almost doubled in less than a year, it’s a serious cause for concern.
However, the DHS is attempting to downplay the situation by stating, “Encounters of known or suspected terrorists attempting to cross the Southern Border are uncommon. These encounters represent significantly less than 0.01 percent of total encounters per fiscal year in recent years.”
A DHS official said the encounters “may include individuals who are not known or suspected terrorists, such as encounters with family members.”
In other words, some people on the terrorist watch list may be added because they are known to be associated with other individuals who are engaged in terrorist activity, such as direct family members.
Despite this information, it’s not reassuring to know that there has been an increase in potential terrorists now living on U.S. soil.
