Protesters injected themselves with cross-sex hormones outside a Manhattan hospital last week.
That protest came days after the hospital agreed to stop giving those same drugs to kids.
Attorney General Todd Blanche says six hospital systems have now done the same, and two of them just wrote a combined $9.45 million in checks to make it official.
NYU Langone and UPMC Just Paid $9.45 Million to Make the Subpoenas Disappear
NYU Langone Health just agreed to pay the federal government $8.5 million.
UPMC agreed to pay $950,000 on the very same day.
Both hospitals signed deals with the Department of Justice to permanently stop giving puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries to anyone under 18.
They join Mount Sinai Health System, Texas Children's Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, and Connecticut Children's Medical Center on that list.
Six major hospital systems, all caught doing the same thing to kids.
Attorney General Todd Blanche said the Department of Justice is "fighting to protect our nation's children" and "working tirelessly to reach agreements with hospitals to end so-called 'gender affirming care' for minors."
He didn't stop there.
Blanche put it in blunt terms – hospitals caught running this and billing the government for it "will be held to account."
That's not political spin – that's the nation's top law enforcement officer accusing hospitals of building a billing scheme around drugging children.
And NYU Langone still won't say it did anything wrong.
The hospital's spokesman insists the settlement isn't an admission of wrongdoing, even while the hospital hands over $8.5 million and shuts the program down for good.
You don't pay seven figures and cancel a program you believe in.
You pay seven figures and cancel a program you got caught running.
Letitia James Tried to Overrule Skrmetti and Lost
This isn't happening in a legal vacuum.
The Supreme Court already ruled in United States v. Skrmetti that states can ban these exact procedures for minors, pointing to real risks including irreversible sterility.
Blanche used that ruling as leverage, subpoenaing patient records at NYU Langone instead of letting the hospital quietly keep treating kids.
NYU Langone paid up instead, making the subpoena disappear along with it.
New York Attorney General Letitia James tried to stop the deal, arguing federal civil rights law required NYU Langone to keep offering the treatments.
Blanche shot her down in a letter citing Skrmetti directly.
James's office now says it's "reviewing" the settlement – which means the state's top law enforcement officer just lost round one, and may be gearing up for round two.
Six Down, and Blanche Says More Hospitals Are Next
Every one of these hospitals had the same option on the table – defend the treatment in open court – and none of them took it.
NYU Langone ran its "Transgender Youth Health Program" for years, and the moment federal agents came asking questions, the program vanished overnight.
That tells you everything about how confident these hospitals actually were in what they were doing.
If the treatment were as safe and necessary as activists claim, nobody would need to inject themselves in the street to prove it – the hospitals would be fighting this out in court, not writing checks.
Blanche made clear this isn't the last announcement – other providers are still under investigation, and federal Medicaid and CHIP dollars are set to stop covering these procedures next month.
The message out of Washington is simple – the era of federal tax dollars funding sex-change procedures on children in America is ending, hospital by hospital, settlement by settlement.
