Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce had a busy offseason after the team earned its second straight Super Bowl victory in February.
He attends more than a dozen concerts in Europe that his girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift, performed on her record-breaking Eras Tour.
And Kelce ventured into the entertainment business by starring in his first scripted TV role on the FX show Grotesquerie and as the host of the Amazon Prime Video game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity.
Now it’s back to business for Kelce and the Chiefs with training camp underway.
The Chiefs are looking to become the first team in NFL history to win three Super Bowls in a row.
Kansas City brought back most of the core group of players from last season and made several additions like wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.
Michael Irvin talked with Travis Kelce about winning three straight Super Bowls
A third straight Super Bowl in the highly competitive NFL is going to be a serious challenge.
That’s why Kelce met with NFL Hall of Famer wide receiver Michael Irvin to pick his brain about going for a three-peat.
Irvin won back-to-back Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys during the 1992 and 1993 seasons but fell short of their dream in the 1994 NFC Championship Game.
The former Cowboys star appeared on the Jim Rome Show where he talked about his offseason conversation with Kelce.
“I said, ‘Every day, man. Every day. When I put head to pillow at night and when I wake up and put toothbrush to tooth in the morning, I think about that one that got away. I think about that ’94 championship game,’” Irvin recalled.
The Cowboys lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion San Francisco 49ers led by quarterback Steve Young in the 1994 NFC Championship game.
San Francisco had lost to Dallas in the NFL Championship Game the previous two seasons.
The Cowboys turned the ball over three times in the first ten minutes of the game, which created an insurmountable 31-14 halftime deficit.
Irvin finished that game with 12 catches for 192 yards and touchdowns.
He said his message to Kelce was to give it everything he has.
“I said to him, ‘Whatever you do, do all you can do to make that happen. […] I’m telling you, if you leave anything on the table, and you don’t get it, you will think about it for the rest of your life like I do,’” Irvin said.
Irvin thought the Chiefs had a great opportunity for a three-peat.
Kansas City will be chasing history this season as they look to win Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
