Vanna White has become an institution starring on Wheel of Fortune. 

She’s pulling back the curtain on her job. 

And Vanna White revealed something about Wheel of Fortune that left fans in stunned silence. 

Vanna White only works about a month every season on Wheel of Fortune 

Vanna White is a game show legend after starring on Wheel of Fortune for 42 seasons after making her debut on the game show in 1982.  

The 68-year-old worked side by side with the show’s former host Pat Sajak for 41 seasons until his retirement last year. 

She’s turning the letters on the current season with the show’s new host Ryan Seacrest. 

White revealed something surprising about her work schedule on Wheel of Fortune during an appearance on the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. 

Co-host Nate Marino admitted that he had just learned that the game show doesn’t air live every weeknight. 

“We film about 34 days a year,” White stated. “That’s it.”

The shooting schedule for Wheel is grueling. 

“But [we film] six shows a day. Come on. You could feel bad for me,” White joked. 

“I do not feel sorry for you one bit,” Duran quipped. “That sounds like a great job.”

White has to change her dress after every episode. 

“That’s six different dresses a day,” co-host Danielle Monaro noted.

White revealed that she’s worn more than 8,000 dresses during her time on Wheel of Fortune. 

And she’s never worn the same dress twice except for a backstage snafu in 2020. 

Wheel of Fortune went through a big transition this season 

Marino was stunned at White’s busy filming schedule. 

“So weird. You have 331 days off a year?” Marino asked. 

“Yes, I guess so,” White replied, causing everyone to burst into laughter. 

“And no one deserves it more than you,” Duran stated. “You’re just the best.”

Duran said that there had to be an adjustment this season to working with Seacrest after Sajak’s retirement. 

“And not just for me,” White said. “For everybody who watched for 41 years [that] Pat and I have been doing the show. And then Pat decided to retire, and he’s very happy. I saw him a couple of weeks ago. He looks great.”

Sajak wrapped up his run on the game show for good when he hosted his final episode of ABC’s Celebrity Wheel of Fortune last October. 

“And Ryan took over, and he’s doing a great job. And he said, ‘Look, no one can ever replace Pat Sajak. I’m just here to fill in,’” White recalled. 

“I feel like you should be in charge now because, like, you’re Vanna White,” Monaro said. “Like, ‘You listen to me, Ryan Seacrest.’”

“I think maybe he would listen to me, but I don’t have anything to say,” a grinning White said. “He’s doing a fine job.”

White is under contract for one more season at Wheel of Fortune. 

Her eventual retirement will be the end of the era as she’s the last iconic game show host left from the 1980s.
