Pat Sajak retired as the host of Wheel of Fortune after more than 40 years.

He leaves behind his longtime co-host to carry the game show forward.

And Vanna White was fighting back tears giving this message to Pat Sajak.

Vanna White says goodbye to Pat Sajak as host of Wheel of Fortune

Pat Sajak hosted his final episode of Wheel of Fortune bringing his career on the long-running game show to a conclusion after 43 years.

He and letter-turner Vanna White became one of the most iconic duos in TV history after working together on Wheel of Fortune since 1982.

White announced that her contract had been extended through the 2025-2026 season.

Sajak’s retirement meant the end of the beloved duo’s time together working on TV.

White paid tribute to her friend and longtime partner in the second to last episode of Sajak’s career in a prerecorded video.

“As this chapter of our lives is coming to an end, I know you’ll still be close by. You’re like a brother to me and I consider you a true lifelong friend who I will always adore,” White said. “I love you, Pat.”

While their professional relationship was important to her, it was their friendship that meant the most.

“As much fun as we had on camera, those memories, milestones, and life events we shared with our families, outside the studio, are my favorite,” White said while fighting back tears. “We’ve watched our children grow up together, we’ve traveled all over the world, we’ve eaten hundreds of meals together. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve celebrated.”

The studio audience cheered as White and Sajak embraced after the video.

A visibly moved Sajak could simply say, “Oh my.”

The duo appeared on more than 8,000 episodes of Wheel of Fortune together during their legendary run.

Wheel of Fortune moves into a new era without Pat Sajak

Sajak announced that he was retiring last year and the show’s producers quickly settled on American Idol host Ryan Seacrest as his replacement.

Seacrest brings a wealth of experience after hosting Idol, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, American Top 40, and On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

He said that he was “truly humbled” to replace Sajak when the announcement was made.

“I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them,” Seacrest said.

Now he has to fill the big shoes of the longest-running game show in TV history.

But he’ll have White’s steady presence to help him with the transition.

Seacrest paid tribute to Sajak on social media after his final episode.

“Pat, congratulations on an incredible run with ‘Wheel of Fortune!’” Seacrest wrote. “Your dedication, charm, and wit have made the show a beloved part of American television for decades.”

“Your partnership with Vanna has been nothing short of iconic, and together, you’ve created countless wonderful memories for viewers,” Seacrest continued. “You’ve set the standard for hosts everywhere, and this marks the end of an era. Best wishes for all your future endeavors!”

Pat Sajak leaves Wheel of Fortune as one of the most beloved television personalities in history.
