Michael J. Fox is one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood and fans were greatly saddened when he retired from acting because of Parkinson’s Disease.

Many wondered if they would ever see him on the silver screen again.

And Michael J. Fox broke the silence about his career with this major decision.

Michael J. Fox began his career as a child actor in the 1970s but his career took off in the 1980s when starred as Alex P. Keaton on the NBC sitcom Family Ties.

His movie career took off in the beloved 1985 hit Back to the Future.

Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 and eventually, it forced him to slow down his acting schedule.

He officially retired from acting in 2020 to focus on his health and his charitable foundation, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which is working to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

Michael J. Fox talks about his career

The 62-year-old Spin City star told Entertainment Tonight (ET) that he’s not ready to give up on acting yet if he gets the right part.

Fox was in Nashville, Tennessee for a fundraiser for his charitable foundation.

ET showed a clip of an interview he gave to the show when he was 22 years old while he was starring in Family Ties.

The 22-year-old Fox said that he wanted to expand his career beyond acting to directing, writing, and editing.

He admitted that his goals in life changed since he gave that interview.

“My biggest goal, I think, was to raise a family. We have four amazing kids and that’s been the big thing,” Fox said. “And then the other is with the foundation.”

Fox has been married to his wife actress Tracy Pollan for 35 years.

Fox is open to a return to acting on one condition

The Back to the Future star was asked about his 2020 retirement from acting and if he would ever reconsider.

“If someone offers me a part and I do it and I have a good time, great. I mean, the documentary was a big thrill,” Fox stated. “I would do acting if something came up that I could put my realities into it, my challenges, if I could figure it out.”

Fox released a documentary in 2023 on AppleTV+ called Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie about his battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He also gave PEOPLE a positive update about his life.

“You know, my daughter’s getting married too . . . good things are happening, and life is good. And so it’s been a good year, for sure,” Fox said.
