Wendy’s unveils new line of saucy chicken nuggets
Chicken nuggets have become one of the most popular menu items at fast food restaurants.
Just about every fast-food chain has them on their menu but the selection is limited.
Wendy’s offered customers classic chicken nuggets or their popular spicy version.
For years, this was the extent of the flavor choices that chicken nugget fans had outside of limited-time promotions.
And at chains like McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A the only option was the regular chicken nugget.
Now Wendy’s is giving chicken nugget fans more choices when it comes to flavor.
The Dublin, Ohio-based fast food giant is debuting its Wendy’s Saucy Nuggs to shake up the world of chicken nuggets.
The Saucy Nuggs are “sauced and tossed” to order in one of seven flavors: Honey BBQ, Garlic Parm, Buffalo, Spicy Honey BBQ, Spicy Garlic Parm, Spicy Buffalo, and Spicy Ghost Pepper.
Wendy’s is offering plenty of choices for chicken nugget lovers who are looking for some heat this summer with four spicy options.
And every order comes with a side of blue cheese or ranch dressing for dipping.
Wendy’s wanted to let fans know that they’re committed to making these chicken nuggets have enough sauce in a humorous video posted to social media.

The video shows an order of Saucy Nuggs being drenched in sauce all the way through the order being bagged.
Wendy’s follows the lead of KFC on saucy nuggets
KFC was a surprising latecomer to offering chicken nuggets.
But they debuted their line of Saucy Nuggets earlier this year and currently offering them in Honey BBQ, Korean BBQ, and Honey Sriracha.
KFC might have beaten Wendy’s to the punch, but they’re trailing them in flavors.
The Kentucky-based chain noted that they were the “original creator” of saucy nuggets in a statement throwing shade at Wendy’s.
The line between chicken nuggets and boneless wings is becoming more blurred with the advent of saucy nuggets.
Wendy’s Saucy Nuggs come in 4, 6, 10, or 20-piece sizes.
That’s why Wendy’s Global Vice President of Culinary Innovation John Li said they were perfect for everything from a snack to a full meal.
“This new innovation is all about providing a next-level culinary experience rooted in flavor,” Li said in a statement. “We crafted four unique sauces to complement the Wendy’s nugget experience and to provide fans with a variety of chicken options that meet their lifestyles and palettes. Whether fans want a bite-size snack or a full meal, we’ve got them covered with our new Saucy Nuggs.”
Gone are the days when fast food fans can only choose to get plain chicken nuggets or hope for a spicy option at best.
Now chicken nugget lovers have fast food chains offering a cornucopia of flavors by saucing their nuggets.
