Franklin Graham came to the defense of a fraternity for one reason no one saw coming

College campuses across the country are being rocked by protests over the Israel-Hamas war.

One group of students decided to stand up to the mob.

And Franklin Graham came to the defense of a fraternity for one reason no one saw coming.

Fraternity defends the American flag from angry left-wing protestors

The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC) joined the growing list of colleges that saw unruly protests break out in support of Palestine by left-wing activists.

Protests at the university were held at Polk Place, a quad with a large open space on campus named President James K. Polk.

Students for Justice in Palestine announced that they had removed the American flag – which had been flying at half-mast to honor four Charlotte police officers who were killed by a criminal – from the flagpole in Polk Place and replaced it with a Palestinian flag.

North Carolina interim chancellor Lee Roberts ordered the police to bring down the protestor’s flag and hoist the American flag.

Protestors tried to remove the American flag again but fraternity brothers with Pi Kappa Phi rushed to defend Old Glory from the left-wing mob.

While the fraternity brothers kept the flag from touching the ground they faced a barrage of insults and had objects thrown at them.

Pi Kappa Phi brother Guillermo Estrada described the chaos as they defended the flag from the mob.

“Shortly after, Chancellor Roberts came with police officers to hang the flag once again. They were met with profanity, middle fingers, thrown bottles, rocks, and water,” Estrada said. “When the flag was raised once again, the Greek community began singing the National anthem. As the Chancellor left, the quad erupted into chaos as protestors began removing the flag once again, preparing to destroy it.”

“My fraternity brother and others ran over to hold it up, in order for it not to touch the ground,” Estrada continued. “People began throwing water bottles at us, rocks, sticks, calling us profane names. We stood for an hour defending the flag so many fight to protect.”

Franklin Graham applauds the bravery of the North Carolina fraternity

Reverend Franklin Graham – the son of the late evangelist Billy Graham – praised the brothers of Pi Kappa Phi for defending the American flag.

“I applaud these young men at [University of North Carolina] for protecting the American flag on the university’s campus after anti-Israel protestors took it down,” Graham wrote on X. “It is so good to see young people who still respect & love our country & the flag that represents it. God bless them!”

The patriotism shown by the North Carolina fraternity gained national attention at a time when footage coming out of colleges showed unruly left-wing mobs.

A GoFundMe fundraiser was set up to throw them a party for their heroism in protecting the American flag.

In a matter of days, it raised more than $500,000 with donations flowing in from all around the country.

The North Carolina fraternity can hopefully inspire other college students to stand up to the leftist mobs invading their campuses.
